Top 5 Red Carpet Jewellery!

01.03.19

                                                            LIGHTS, CAMERA, DIAMONDS!

"There can be 100 people in a room and 99 of them" will be watching the red carpet, betting who will get the award, what designer they will wear and how many carats they can layer up! Every year famous jewellery houses get their precious treasures from the vaults and/or design creative to-die-for masterpieces! As the red carpet season is over, we took a closer look at the best red carpet jewels from the biggest award ceremonies of the year. That was a tough choice to make, but here is our Top Five Red Carpet Jewellery of 2019:

No 5.

Starting our list is Emily Blunt, who looked absolutely gorgeous in a millenial pink gown and Forevermark diamonds at the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

"I was looking for a gorgeous diamond earring to compliment the ruffle if the dress and I found it with Forevermark along with an incredible one-of-a-kind diamond ring"

- Jessica Park (Emily Blunt's stylist)

Dramatic, shoulder-gazing 11.73 carats diamond earrings set in 18K gold complemented Blunt's sculptural gown, and the Forevermark's Force of Nature ring adorned her hand as she accepted the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her role in "A Quiet Place".

The Force of Nature ring is the unique masterpiece that features 3.38 carat diamon as its centre stone, that bears two millionth inscriprion of Forevermark diamonds. The piece was designed by Louise Kriek, the runner up of the De Beers Group's Shining Light Award. She was inspired by the beautiful African nature and the rich animal kingdom. She fell in love with the African antelope, Kundum which later on reflected in her designs.

"I also want them to notice how the horns cradle the hero diamond, protecting it just as we should protect nature’s beauty."

- Louise Kriek

Emily Blunt finished her look with the stack of sparkling bangles:

No 4.   During Oscars the newly brunette Charlize Theron wrapped up in Bulgari jewels reminded all of us how Elegance looks!

The Academy Award winner was shining in more than 360 carats of Bulgari diamonds, sapphires and emeralds. The standout element of her ensemble was undoubtedly a white-gold double-wrap necklace with 79.83 carats of diamonds featuring the iconic Serpenti design. Theron layered the piece with another high-jewelry necklace of 61 round brilliant diamonds also set in white gold.

Charlize Therone wore an impressive stack of rings and layers of bracelets, one of which matched her serpenti necklace. The bracelet is set in white gold with 2 pear-shaped brilliant cut diamonds making up the eyes, weighing 0.80carats in total and body of the snake was incrusted with 49.41carats of diamonds.

The Gemme straordinarie earrings added the spash of colour to the final look. Timeless high jewellery earrings featured rare and alluring gemstones set in white gold: 2 octagonal step Burmese Sapphires (25.58 ct), 6 baguette Emeralds (4.02 ct), 2 emerald cut Diamond (4.08 ct) and 2 oval brilliant cut Diamonds (1.05 ct).

Charlize Theron has been attending the cinema's biggest night since the mid 90s, but she still manages to make each appearance feel new and leave us wanting for more!

No 3.   Step out of the way! Here comes the Diva!

Sure, stars brought drama and glamour to the Golden Globes red carpet, but no one slayed more than Billy Porter. The Tony Award-winning actor for the musical "Kinky Boots" lit up the red carpet in an embroidered suit and a matching cape with hot pink lining. Matching the floral custom made suit, Billy wore several flower brooches by Oscar Heyman. There were two brooches from the "Gardenia" Collection, one incrustated with yellow diamonds and the other with approximately 4.80cts of round brilliant diamonds and green enamel. One of our absolute favourites was the ruby brooch, featuring 98 invisibly set Square Rubies weighing 35.65 carats and 74 mixed shaped diamonds, weighing 4.44 carats.

We are not quite finished! Did you check out his ring? Another knockout piece from Heyman called the Diamond Ballerina ring, set with 2.52 carat trillion cut diamond at the centre, surrounded by 3.7 carats tapered baguette diamonds in platinum.

No 2.  BAFTA  Awards is a place that brings together movie-star and real-life royalty however, it was left to Michelle Yeoh to wear a necklace fit for a queen!

She channelled Crazy Rich Asians glamour with an enormous suite of Moussaieff jewellery: a necklace set with 74 carat natural fancy intense yellow diamond, accented with another 80 carats of colourless diamonds, as well as a pair of matching earrings featuring 17 carats of natural fancy intense yellow diamonds and 7 carats of colourless diamonds. We have no doubt this set of Moussaieff jewellery were the most valuable piece of the night.

No1.  And the first place goes to...(drum roll) ... Lady GAGA!

From the Golden Globes to the SAGs, Lady Gaga has made statement after stunning statement on the red carpet this awards season, but the necklace she wore to Oscars (almost) stole the show!

Lady Gaga was wearing the 128 carat fancy yellow diamond also known as "the Tiffany Diamond".  It was set in a necklace with 16 cushion-cut diamonds and 46 round brilliant diamonds. One of the reasons it’s caused such a sensation is the fact that this diamond was last seen on the neck of Audrey Hepburn in 1962 for the Breakfast at Tiffany’s promotional photos. You may notice it looks a little different - it’s the same yellow diamond but the chain has been adapted to make it feel more modern. This was the first time the diamond has ever made an appearance on the red carpet and

Reed Krakoff, Tiffany & Co. Chief Artistic Officer, said:

“Lady Gaga is the ultimate creator, innovator and rule breaker, and I’m thrilled that she will be wearing the legendary Tiffany Diamond on the awards show red carpet for the first time since it was discovered 141 years ago."

The golden yellow stone was originally discovered in the Kimberly mine if South Africa in 1877 and the rough weighed 287 carats.  It was acquired by Charles Lewis Tiffany a year later and he entrusted his famed gemologist George Frederic Kunz, after whom the beautiful pink stone Kunzite is named.

Kunz cut the stone into a 128-carat cushion cut, to bring out its brilliance he put 82 facets instead of 58 in a typical cut. It was immediately recognized as a treasure and became something close to an American Crown jewel.

Oh my God! This year's red carpet season was something Extra Extra sparkly! Lady Gaga's look will go down in history and it will be a mission impossible to beat that in years to come! But we already started the countdown, wondering if the "hope diamond" will be making an appearance, hopefully, the curse is not real!
